Vagabondo's advice
Last-minute came out in the '90ties as a marginal phenomenon: the holiday of people catching the very moment, but in a few years it has become a mass phenomenon, so that by now
there are nearly more people looking for last minute than for normal holidays...
Today the difficulty is not to find the right occasion, but to discern between true
last minute offers and holidays passed off as such, but actually at full price. Therefor
here is Vagabondo's advice to find one's bearing and save money:
- Trust only specialised organisations.
Vagabondo selected two operators: lastminute.com and lastminutetour.com. These two
operators are specialised in this sector, so they are able to propose the best offers.
You'll find links to their websites down below.
On the contrary a normal tour operator will only offer his own last minute packages (so severely reducing your opportunities) or, sometimes will pass off as such offers that are not l.m.
- Last minute flights do not exist!! Last minute is borne for travel packages (fly and stay) and simply cannot be applied to mere air flights: a package may remain un-sold and the organization sells it as last minute at a very low price just not to loose the money it had invested; airlines
work differently, they make waiting lists, do overbooking, etc. To fly last minute
simply means to take an airplane when it seemed impossible to do it, but will usually
cost you more then if you had booked it in time... If what you are looking for is
to fly low cost Vagabondo's page to consult is
this other one, and do not wait for the last minute :-)
