Frasso Sabino is a tiny ancient town dominated by a tower and other remains of a large casle, now incorporated in the ancient houses of the town.
The visit is extremely short due to the size of the town, but it is nonetheless extremely worh the trip. The magnificent views enabled us to relive the atmosphere of ancient times. The town has been carefully renovated with extreme care to also the tiniest details, one may also admire the paving, done with the ancient local stones instead of the often used porphyry, material which has nothing to do with the region.
The town does not have any stores, for any buys it is thus necessary to go to the nearby town of Poggio Nativo.
Also Poggio Nativo, 415 m. above sea level, once had a castle. Now little is left and it is solely a ruin infested by vegetation that towers the small medieval streets of the town. Recently works to renovate it and make it accessible for visits have been started.
There is a small museum in the understructures of the castle, but we unfortunately found it closed when we visited due to the works for the restoration of the castle. I therefore am not able to tell you what there is inside.
