Rocchette and Rocchettine
The ensemble of these two towns and their somewhat rough surroundings is very suggestive and is certainly worth a visit even thought there aren’t specific artistic or monumental elements: these two settlements, one of which is completely in ruins, are one in front of the other on two bordering hills that rise in a particularly picturesque valley.
The silence and isolation transports you back to ancient times. If you park your car out of sight, you might have the impression of having arrived by horse.
Rocchette is a small town with little more than two hundred inhabitants. It is carefully kept and completely pedestrian through the narrow streets paved with local stones or dug into the bedrock.
On the hill in front o Rocchette one may see the ruins of Rocchettine, an ancient fortress that dominates the valley with its cylindrical towers.
The castle may be reached by car through the street that descends from Rocchette.
